Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a regional program designed to encourage students to read a variety of quality literature. The list consists of forty books from many different genres. Included are books that are historical fiction, humor, science fiction, adventure, mystery, fantasy, and realistic fiction.
The Wolford team is coached by Mr. Cain, Librarian, and Mrs. Dockins, 5th Grade Teacher. Anyone can read the books, but the competition is limited to 5th graders. Practice meetings will be after school on Thursdays, starting on November 29 until the final competition on Thursday, April 18.
The students will read and discuss selected books, and compete in mini-“scrimmages”. Each student is responsible for 10-15 books. The students read, discuss and compete in a collaborative team environment with support and fun!
