Heggerty phonemic awareness lessons develop phonological and phonemic awareness by progressing to the phoneme level through language play activities. It covers all consonants, short vowels, digraphs, blends, and rhyme patterns. Each lesson is fast-paced and includes differentiated instruction, an alphabet knowledge activity, and opportunities to make phoneme-grapheme connections, matching the sounds we hear to letters in print. Math Curriculum
Savvas Learning Company’s enVision+ Mathematics promotes authentic learning and student exploration, resulting in confident problem solvers. Each program element focuses on active exploration, communication, and reasoning designed to leverage students’ natural curiosity. Students see themselves in familiar contexts to connect learning to how math is used in the world. Classroom Philosophy
Our kindergarten classrooms use a proactive, whole-child framework designed to help every student succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially-emotionally. We use universal screenings, classroom observations, and ongoing progress monitoring to identify students’ strengths and areas of need early, allowing us to respond with support as soon as possible. All students receive high-quality, engaging whole-group instruction and targeted small-group instruction.
Students who need additional support receive individualized, intensive support with specialists in our building. Student groups and supports are flexible and are adjusted based on ongoing data and progress. This collaborative approach allows teachers, specialists, and families to work together to provide the right support at the right time and help each child make meaningful progress.
Our kindergarteners benefit from attending two Specials classes each day. They are art, music, physical education, technology, library, American Sign Language, and health.
At EWES, we are fortunate to have several outdoor learning spaces. We make good use of these and connect with nature on a personal level often.
